Gratitude Is a Choice — Even When Life Hurts

There are moments in life when everything feels heavy.

Grief.

Stress.

Anger.

Overwhelm.

Even when the world appears to be crumbling around you — you still have a choice.

You can choose to be grateful.

You can choose to be present.

And I know that sounds easier said than done.

Since my mom passed away, I’ve had to be very intentional about redirecting my energy. It’s easy to spiral into “what ifs,” comparisons, or the unfairness of it all.

But recently, I listened to the Be the Energy podcast episode by Trent Shelton, and it helped guide my thinking back to something simple:

I don’t control everything that happens to me.

But I do control where my energy goes.

Guard Your Energy

Looking left and right at what someone else has — or what you think they have — doesn’t bring peace.

Maybe their life looks easier from the outside.

But maybe they’re carrying something you’ll never see.

Life isn’t about:

One-upping someone else’s struggles Criticizing others to feel better Comparing pain or circumstances

That doesn’t heal you.

It distracts you.

The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to guard my energy for what matters most.

Presence.

Peace.

Family.

Health.

You Still Have a Choice

Even when you’re deep in your feelings.

Even when those feelings hurt.

Even when you’re angry.

You can pause.

You can breathe.

You can redirect your focus to what is still good, still meaningful, still here.

Gratitude doesn’t erase grief.

But it grounds you in what remains.

🎥 I shared more about this in m video — take a moment to watch.

Not a Morning Mom

Imperfect growth. Intentional presence.
